it was 1868 when Crieff Hydro opened as one of the first hydropathic health spa hotels in Scotland. To the Victorians, there was nothing more therapeutic than a dip in some ice-cold spring water.
These days, our pools are heated to perfect relaxation temperature, as are the sauna, steam room and spa bath - all found in the adults-only Victorian Spa.

The Victorian Spa just got even better! We’ve introduced 2 hour bookable sessions at 9am, 11.30am, 2pm & 4.30pm where you’ll be one of only a handful of people who can enjoy our new touches including robes, upgraded steam room and ice experience. Fancy a pre-breakfast dip or pre-dinner swim? There’s no need to book before 9am and after 6.30pm so just head to the leisure desk.

It sounds a bit strange now, but to the Victorians, swimming in freezing spring water was just what the doctor ordered. So it goes that in 1868, under the management of physician Thomas H. Meikle, we opened our doors as The Strathearn Hydropathic Establishment Company.

Of course, a lot's changed since then (we've got a catchier name for a start). And the £40 million we've invested in recent years really shows. But what hasn't changed is the lineage behind the hotel.

With over 200 bedrooms, 50 self-catering units, 60 on-site activities and 7 places to eat there is certainly something for everyone at Crieff Hydro. This means that lots of people love to visit us and over the past decade we've managed to scoop a few awards along the way!

At Crieff Hydro we're not fans of the phrase 'something for everyone'. But in our case, it just so happens to be true.
